parents-are-out-of-town-weekend-potluck

Hooray for Friday! What will you guys be up to? My folks are out of town this weekend & they've permitted me to hold what i would call "my-folks-are-out-of-town-potluck-party". Intimate affair with the usual suspects. Can't wait! My weekends have been so eventful!

Wishing you a lovely time too! xoxo

p.s Will be trying out yet another chicken dish: Skillet Rosemary Chicken. Both the food & photography is just delish.

Jamie makes pancakes with Daisy & Poppy.

Spent my weekend catching up with TLC (travel & living channel) & sleeping in. I think i watched countless episodes of Jamie's Family Christmas & absorbed a few awesome recipes i intend to try this Christmas. Overall, a very relaxing & quiet weekend.

Honestly, i'm not completely over it so i'm gonna take this time to extend a little bit of my weekend and chase away the blues with this intensely adorable episode of Jamie & his girls cooking pancakes. Too cute!

the stuff we do outside my house

How was the weekend? Me and the girls got down to finally celebrating our babe's birthday and awww, it was perfect. I mean what could possibly go wrong with good home-cooked dinner, fairy lights, candles and some jazz. Basically, our menu for the night went as simply as follow,

Appetizer:
Baked salmon & baby potatoes + mesclun salad + asparagus.

Main:

Roast chicken

Pasta pie

Dessert:

Chocolate fondue

I need to specially mention Nini's pasta pie which she painstakingly put together like it was a piece of art and was so RUDELY DELICIOUS that we're all asking her for another round of it. Her roast chicken was also lovely and while she rocked the mains, i did the appetizer and I thought we both did a pretty neat job.

Have a sweet Monday, my loves. Come right back tomorrow!

Christmas at Yuki's

Hello! I hope i haven't been gone for too long and that you enjoyed the holidays.

Just a little bit about last week. The dinner at Yuki's was simple and wonderful. Her apartment was rad, our sushi wasn't too bad, plenty of pizza and chicken wings, chatters till the wee hours of morning and 4 happy girls having a good time on the windy, spacious balcony so high we saw the prettiest view of the city by night.

I loved everything about it.

At my place, the next day, dinner was roast lamb, cauliflower cheese, baked potatoes and mushroom cream. My folks invited Yas over and it went better than i had expected. A friend of mine gave me my favourite flavoured ice cream from Ben & Jerry's for x'mas and so we had that for dessert. That saved the day. My dad spontaneously organized a movie marathon, which went ahead with just the men in my life (my dad, brother and boyfriend). The girls of the house had to unfortunately get some sleep after all that cooking. Right.

My holiday well spent with the people i love and matter so much to me. I know it's rare for me to say this but i'm really happy now after a very, very, very long time.

Wishing you happiness this new year, my sweet readers. Because it tastes so sweet and i never took it seriously until recently. Everyone wishes happiness for each other but until someone stops to explore how deep and special it is, it's just going to be an overrated word i suppose.

spooky + cookies= spookies!

Look what I made for later!

It's really simple. I used Lotus Caramelised Snack Biscuits, white baking chocolate and chocolate chips.

Simply melt the chocolate (I used a double boiler), coat biscuits with it like above, add chocolate chip eyes and finally, leave it to harden. Done!

My brother says he can't help but just stare at it and smile. Neither can I. It's like a gang of ghosties.

Thanks Marta!

my simple last week

T'was a brilliant week and i wanted to share it with you! Because i mentioned breakfast here, thought i'd photograph some of my own. As a matter of fact, I'm beginning to get the hang of it.

And! My successful chicken stew with lots of herbs, especially Oregano (just because it smells really good).

Too much Starbucks and excellent conversations all of last week.

They say the simple things in life are the best. I now realise they weren't kidding.
Enjoy your breakfast!
