letters & friends

Remember my lovely friend Lizzy? Well, she sent me a message not too long ago to ask what i thought about writing letters to each other. My answer? "Yes, please!". There's nothing i love more than pretty paperie, getting ambitiously crafty and continuing a wonderful friendship the old-fashioned way. Which in my opinion, being the traditionalist that i am, feels truly sincere & expressive. Digital mediums just can't do it the way letters can, however way you cut it. Only my thoughts though!

We haven't officially started writing to each other just yet. Liz will land in the UK in about 2 weeks and as soon as she's settled in, she'll send me her first letter with her mailing address so i can write back. I cannot wait!

P.S have you heard of the Benevolent Postcard Society? I've posted about them sometime ago and i'm still smittened by this charming project. Wouldn't it be so nice to form a tiny club of people from different corners of the world to exchange postcards and well wishes?

WAR IS OVER! (IF YOU WANT IT)

Print & display in your window, school, workplace, car & elsewhere over the holiday season, and send as postcards to your friends.

If you don't see your language here, then send us your translation of
WAR IS OVER!
IF YOU WANT IT
Happy Christmas from John & Yoko

so we can make a poster for your language.

The enchanting Yoko Ono calls for a peaceful protest every Christmas and i'm in this year. For some time now, i've been on a hunt for budget-friendly gifts and ideas this Christmas but nothing quite does it like this nostalgic print.

This is in Bahasa Indonesia. Is it any different in malay?

Dear John & Yoko,
Your love will pave the way for peace in the world, someday. Thank you for believing. Imagine peace.

the benevolent postcard society

Have you heard of them or seen their lovely blog?

"
The society is a postcard exchange and art project in one, the aim of the Benevolent Postcard Society is to bring a smile to its members through the random exchange of postcards from September 2009 to September 2010. At the beginning of each month, members send a cheerful, amusing, inspiring, pretty or quirky postcard to each other — either handmade or readymade. At the end of the year, all the postcards exchanged will be collected and published as a book, the final result of a year's sharing of good karma through random acts of kindness.
"

Isn't this the most inspiring project? I admit, i have a not-too-strange fascination with receiving mails, be it cards or letters and especially if it is handwritten and posted from a reasonable distance. Do you like posting and receiving mails? I know a number of people who do. Shall we try this together for the new year and circulate positive energies and good karma to each other?

my cousin weds..

and i'm planning her hen night! Thanks to my hectic schedule, i couldn't work on this sooner. The party is in four days and i'm rushing through every detail. The fact that i don't have a fantastic budget just gave me a panic attack this morning for i refuse to compromise my idea and is so determined to go all the way with it. Or at least three quarters of the way?

So stoked!

Apart from clubs and strippers, have you any ideas to share what would be great for a clean, girly and enjoyable hen do?

FINALLY!

My photo-blog is up! I'm at maria-captures. It's more like an extension of this blog so posts are more organized. Really basic and i haven't developed much on it but it'll do. For now.

I have more pictures to follow up from my last post: Christmas at Yuki's. This uploading business takes time so please bear with me! It'll come along slow and steady.

Hope it works for you guys! xx

updates and another flea

My dears, i'm doing this flea on Sunday and i hope you'll come. We're putting out little treasures ranging from used books to tie & dye tshirts for sale. The gorgeous Mary, just as the explosion of colours on her tie & dye fabrics, is as creative as she is unique and will be there to take orders if you'd like a personalised tie & dye tee. More on that here.

Further, i won't be doing CD sales for The Sally's this weekend but i urge you to head on down and get it in the name of support. Or else, come enjoy the music anyway. I'm going to be there gumming up a 'little-big-project' that i am very nervous, overjoyed and grateful for. Maybe i'll share it with you if it all falls into place. IF.

Tomorrow on, i am going to be so occupied by mountains of important work. It's frightening to look a few hours ahead of now and picture myself running around mad for time. Oh it's looming over me already.

Taking on a random interview for an overambitious job that's keeping me in doubt. I'm lulled into thinking how pretty it'd be on my miserable resume and was almost about to plunge in at full tilt until i realised, i have just a tad more than half a year before i'm taking off. My options are as such..

I can:
(a) spare myself the ordeal of a challenging job, get on with a simple one and when the time comes, fly off.
(b) attempt something close to a suicide by going forward with it, learn as much as i can from the not so many months at it and depart.

What are your thoughts about this dilemma?

still on photos

I'm still at it, believe it or not. There's just too many pictures and i'm sorting them out for print to scrapbook and my sites. Collectively, it's gone far more than 300 photos which is a good deal for all that hardwork involved in the making. So i'm posting some out by tomorrow. Just don't be too hopeful.

Taking a nap, going out to grab dinner in some hours. Happy Wednesday!

spooky + cookies= spookies!

Look what I made for later!

It's really simple. I used Lotus Caramelised Snack Biscuits, white baking chocolate and chocolate chips.

Simply melt the chocolate (I used a double boiler), coat biscuits with it like above, add chocolate chip eyes and finally, leave it to harden. Done!

My brother says he can't help but just stare at it and smile. Neither can I. It's like a gang of ghosties.

Thanks Marta!

where i'll be and hope to see you!

Sweethearts, just to announce, me and the girls are going to part of this flea next week. We actually made it in the nick of time. Vendors swarmed at the chance and places were taken in a blink. I'll see to it that i have some stuff we're selling posted here so you get an idea. Please come! If you're not getting anything, that's fine. We can have a chat and take pictures. I'll see you!

Also, The Sally's will be launching their album on the 28 and 29th next month at the Esplanade. Their CDs will be on sale and i'll be manning the booth on both days. I may be wrong but there'll be some merchandises too. If nothing gets in the way, i hope to see you there! Come and say hello if you're among the crowd, i'd be thrilled.

Anyway, their 1" buttons are already out in 4 different designs, get them here. If that's not working, reach me at: maria@thebastardmovement.com, i'd be glad to help.

projects to resume!

It's amusing how i tend to say one thing and do otherwise. I said i'll put up pics the next day and came back days later only to say i won't be blogging for awhile and the pics are still not uploaded. Today i'm back, when i said i'd be on a short 'blog break'. I hope i don't always contradict myself like this! How awful..

Quick update!
I'm back on my projects, thank god. What's even better is that i'm smelling some chance of getting hooked-up on a small writing gig and a huge one afterwards. I'll let you know if i nailed it and got published. Cross those fingers.

More stuff heading this way and i can hardly wait. Hope to update you with some good news.

Enjoy your Tuesday, readers..

p.s i don't have a split personality, i've just been reading anger management.
